Clemmons Rotary Lights Up Roanoke at District Conference

StewartClemmons Rotary Club Let their lights shine at the District 7690 Conference in Roanoke, Virginia. The conference was held from April 30th through May 3rd. Twenty club members and their guests participated in educational sessions, joined in service projects in the Roanoke community, some played in the Rotary golf outing, and many of us explored downtown Roanoke. The Strawberry Festival was an added bonus to the weekend.

Clemmons Rotary club also provided information on two projects in the House of Friendship. Anna Tampana manned the Little Hearts of Nicaragua booth and Purity Ruchugo displayed her African goods to support Sister2sister Outreach Ministry. The highlights of the conference for our club were cheering on club President, Thomas Orr, as he accepted the Gold Club Award and sharing in the recognition of John Stewart for his contributions to the Rotary Peace Scholars program. The award ceremony was a very special event for Clemmons Rotary Club.

Next year’s District Conference will be held at the Greenbrier Resort in West Virginia from April 22-24, 2016.
